...hell, as I try to shrug some of the headache away with too hot coffe, and get the nausea somewhat stable with to many cigarettes. "Amusementparks on fire"'s on the stereo singing there's too much future... Last two weeks everythings been upside-down, and with total opposite events. My brothers funeral and being with the family, and on the other hand the annual Öya festival with too much drinkin'. I haven't been to work for almost two weeks either, wich is somewhat wierd, and that comes from me who used to be a lazy slacker for ages... Anyhow, it's nice to be back doing something, it keeps the mind from some of the sad thoughts, and avoid me from getting stuck in "sausagewood"(I'll explain further...).
Tuesday 8th; This years festival kicked off with Subs, a very good Chineese punk-rock band. The gig was awesome, thogh you could not understand a word she was saying, nor singing for that matter... Only had a few beers, and went home early, as we were going to have a memorial at the hospital-chapel pretty early in the morning...
Wednesday; Went to see my brother, or what used to be my brother, for the last time. It was kind of nice, and he seemed so calm. When he was declared dead he were still breathing artificially on a machine, and they kept his heart running as well, so now it was easier to fetch that he actually passed away.
After talking to my mother for awhile, I went to work, where there were several bands on the stage; Ingrid Olava, Monomen, Moonpedro and the new farm street orchestra, White lord jesus, Sirka ragnar, and New Violators. I wasn't really in the mood for standing in a crowd for hours, so I ended up with a little piece of each band, and a pretty big piece of drinkin in the backyard, wich is nice as well.

Thursday was my only dedicated Öya-day. I started out by missing "the Loch Ness Mouse"- concert, but managed to see most of the "!!!"'s gig. Then I went for the days highlight "Band of Horses". The band delivered grand, but I had some trouble focusing. After that I hooked up with Øystein and Mette, as it was raining cats and dogs, we just sought shelter awating the Motorpsycho concert. Avoiding to get soaked I got a pretty decent place right next to the sound tower, wich ought to be the best place to get a good concert-experience. But, alas, the sound was total crap, and you could hardly hear the guitar. What planet the sound engineer came from I can hardly guess... The band deliverd despite the fact that the guitar-sound was totally fucked...
The night ended back at Mono, abit too late as there was this funeral the next morning...
The funeral was nice, and almost 450 people attended. The Priest was also decent, for a priest... She didn't make too much fuzz about god, g-zuz, and all that bible crap. That was kept to a minimum. The speech was more focused on what my brother had got a chance to do, and not the fact that he was disabled and never managed to do alot of things. There where no psalms, but only songs my brother have grown up with, and one he made himself while in hospital. The last one I think would embarass him like shit, but he loved to pull pranks on people, so he'ld probably laugh... After the burial we went to a community house for pizza and coffee, it was kind of weird as 200 of the people at the funeral came along. Shitloads of faces I haven't seen for decades, telling stories from my earliest days, kids I used to babysit when I was like 12, were suddenly grown ups, and had younger grown up siblings as well. With such a crowd of relatives, and "ghosts" from the past, I was really happy that Lasse Spang were there as well, so I could run away from boring conversations, reapeating the same blurbs after the other, and I got to talk to the ones I felt talking to.
After that the closest family and friends of both my brother's parrents went to his dad, and I went to the festival. Not that I'm such a cynical bastard, but his father is a dunghole. We have never been good friends, and since I've been a kid I thought him as an asshole. Fortunately I don't have to tell him that anymore, he knows for sure. My brother has been the only reason for us to meet occationally during the last 13 years, but then, in respect for my brother, we have both stepped down. So it has been a small "cold war", wich in my eyes finally are over, as we don't have to meet eachother again...
When arriving back on the city, I went for a beer at work, and met Terje and Gunnar, a co-worker. I was planning to get out of the suit before going to the festival, but as time was running out, Gunnar talked me into fetching a cab and attend "The Cramps"'s gig, wich was very good indeed. It was pretty weird, first off in a suit and tie, and then taking a cab for a festival; both seems extremely not a thing I would do. After that I went back for a few beers and fell to sleep for ages.
Saturday's concerts was "midlake", wich was very nice, then I met up with some guys from work and sat by the shore drinking some beers while Yoko Ono was playing in the background. I saw a bit of Beck, wich was kind of disappionting as I've seen him so much better before. The evening all went into a fog, and I woke up at fuckin 7 o'clock in the morning.
On sunday I was back working again, we had this after festival party, and was going to show "the cramps - live from napa state mental hospital" from 1978, and then a secret surprice concert with "young fogertys". Last was an ad-hoc coverband playing CCR covers, but it was alot harder and they didn't just play the "ordinary" hits. A very loud, but pleasant experience.
Monday and tuesday was opening shift in the bar, some drinking and some co-conspiracy/planning discussion about next year by:larm festival. As it looks I'm supposed to asstist on the visual part of the festival area. It'll be hard but fun work as it is both in an old squatted part of trondheim called "svartlamoen", and an old military submarinebase....
